Default 2000.5 Club Car Rebuild

I am in the process of taking apart my cart for cleaning the body of corrosion and doing a solid state conversion...this is going to be my winter project and as I may even repaint the body...who knows...I am taking lots of pics and taking notes as to the order I take things off...I am replacing all rusty bolts/screws/etc...

So, just a couple of questions as I make plans on my rebuild (I have gotten the roof, and seats off so far):
1.When I remove the batteries, do I need to charge them periodically? I just recently purchased 6 new Trojan batteries and don't want them to go bad!
2. Where is the solid state conversion kit going to be mounted? Just planning ahead...
3. As I go to remove the Forward/reverse switch and the plug for my charger are there any things I need to be aware of??
