Default My 93 Club Car Build

Figured I'd put out some pics of when I built my 93 club car. I knew I was going to completely build a cart, so I hunted for a cart with a useable frame and body, nothing else really mattered since I knew it would all be new. Scored this one for FREE from the local golf course. Story goes that it had been submerged in one of the ponds and then they set it out behind the maintenance shed and robbed parts. Sorry last pic is upside down lol, but you get the idea, no controller, rat's nest wiring, etc...

Tore it down to the frame and found four matching wheels and tires just to get it to roll around. Power washer and harsh cleaners removed at the time about 18 years worth of crud.

Stripped the suspension and went with a Buggies Unlimited 6" A-Arm lift. Put on some 10" wheels and tires I traded an old Yamaha electric cart with a bad controller for. Didn't stick with the old front shocks like the pics show, went with new ones a little later and didn't get pics.

Bought some 1 GA cables to replace the battery cables that had lived for years in the glove box along with other miscellaneous hardware. They're actually starter to solenoid cables for a tractor, but they're the perfect length for 36 volt cart cables. Found a V-glide that needed some work, rebuilt it and put it on the cart. Then bought some 2 GA wiring for rewiring the main harness. Last pic shows old vs. new main harness wiring.

Powerwashed the body itself and then crammed it into my Envoy for the ride to a local painter. I went with VW yellow and was really happy; the darker the light the cart is in the more deep yellow it looks, and in brighter light it looks a really good shade of yellow like on a 70s bug . Paint turned out really great and I was really happy to have paid $200 for the job. Numerous hours in getting it all perfectly smooth, then sealer and primer and several coats of finish paint, then clear.

Probably got a little excited, but I started to add bling even though I wasn't done. (Hey, the appearance parts came in before the others!). I put on some 10" hubcaps from BU, the good ones that actually cover the rim of the wheel. Then I put on a stainless column cover, way better than the black plastic. Finally, the worn pedals had to go, put on some new pedal pads just cause I like the looks of the factory pedals.

Removed the old motor to make way for the new built 36v motor. Tore the old one up a little getting it out . Decided to stay 36 volt because we have several other 36 volt carts around and the chargers will interchange, didn't know as much then about the 48 volt conversion "do-ability" either. Regardless, I ended up happy with my results. Installed a HD solenoid and F&R switch as well.
