Default Street bike silencer?

Anyone ever try a street bike silencer on a big block? I just placed a order with Geoff for a VG 440 kit and was wanting a pretty quiet muffler. I did research the matter and found some people using small car mufflers. Well I used to ride sport bikes when I was younger so I have a set of silencers off a gsx1300r and a cbr600rr just collecting dust in the shed. I'm thinking about trying to plumb one in and see how it sounds but figured someone might have some insight on the subject.

You should match the pipe with the motor displacement for best results. A muffler for a 1000cc motor is not going to do so much on a 500cc motor.

Thanks for the advise. I was thinking about trying the one off the 600 while still on the bench. It's actually a little shorter but more of a fat oval shape so I might be able to mount it easier. Oh I should clear up that I have the VC header coming and I am going for noise reduction over all out performance.

I built a muffler for my big block using a muffler from a Street Sport bike, cut it half and replaced the ends.

That looks prett nice, how does it sound? I was thinking about mounting it cross ways above the axle to get maximum noise reduction.
