Default arthritis shifter

we were out and about on beautiful texas day, before it gets too hot. then my 71 yr.old gf says i want to drive! everything works until the shifting part. can't do. does anybody make a longer- like 8 inch- handle? or do i just glue a stick to it? ideas welcome.

p.s. it became much harder to shift when installed the the hd fnr. thanks jim

A Medalist should not be hard to shift? A txt yes but; a medalist, no.... check your linkage and the nut on the center shaft may be too tight at the F&R ....... do not loosen the F&R center shaft nut much or bad things will happen in the switch.

Back off that center nut about half a turn and see if that helps..... the medalist had a very easy F&R originally?

Check with Plum Quick....I think they make a shifter you can add and you dont even have to reach down.

I devised a simple effective shifter for my marathon to allow easy shifting by my elderly father. After removing the factory knob, I chiseled a square hole in a 10" piece of oak to fit the flats on the shaft. I shaped the word into a comfortable lever and screwed it onto the shaft. It has been working great for over 5 years. I like it too... don't have to lean over as far.
