Default 2000 EZGO Series cart

I just purchased a stock 2000 EZGO Series cart with new batteries and looking at doing some upgrades. I purchased a 5" lift and looking to get 22" tires. After talking with a guy from a local Golf Cart shop he said that there is no way that the stock cart would pull the 22" tires and that upgrading a Series cart will be expensive and not have good results. He said he would trade the cart and get something that is better to upgrade. I am mainly using the cart on the street and trails that are mainly level. Here are my questions.

1. Will the Series cart be good to upgrade or should I just leave it stock and find something else?

2. If I install the Lift and 22" tires will my cart be useless or will it be useable until I can upgrade the Wires, Controller, Motor?

Welcome to BGW!
You can install the 22" tires and the lift. If you stay on relatively flat ground all should be fine. When you load it up or go up an incline, you may overload the controller and it may stop or slow down.
IMO, a series cart is the best model for upgrades.
I would put 4ga cables on it as well to help with the current requirements.
If you experience controller overload and brownout, your next step is a new Alltrax 400a controller.
IMO the guy from a local Golf Cart shop is full of it.

Thanks for the reply. I have already made up my mind to upgrade to 4ga cables. Where can I find the best deal on the 4ga cable upgrade? Also if I upgrade to the Alltrax controller with the stock motor will it help the torque/speed or will it just be a more dependable unit?

All of the above, slightly more speed, definitely more torque and definitely more dependable. I would wait and see what happens after you do the 4ga upgrade.
