Default Txt convertor disconnect

Question for the electrical gurus here.
Have a 2012 48 volt txt with factory sure power 48 to 12 volt reducer for accessories.
Convertor is always drawling 1-1/12 amp from baterry even when not in use since it’s connected directly to battery.
Currently disconnecting convertor via toggle switch so it’s not connected until toggle switch is on.

Got to thinking today, could I tap 48 volt supply to convertor onto wire coming off of run/tow switch without damaging anything.

In other words want to supply 48 volts to convertor only when run/tow switch is in run position.

Looks like simple splice into red wire off switch but want to be sure it won’t damage controller, ect.

Should I just keep current setup? Or will new idea work?
Thanks 😊

You could wire it to your key switch if it has the trigger wire. If no trigger wire, you can do it with a relay.

I don’t think you want the amperage the reducer pulls running through that tow switch. I’ve never heard that suggested by one of the experts, but you’ll have to see what they say.

Relay switched by the key switch. Don’t mess with the run/tow circuit.

Thanks guys. But no the convertor does’nt have a trigger wire.
Glad I asked before rather then finding out later I goofed.
And yes I did have to add relay with the toggle switch as switch arched closed after a few use’s.🤭
