Default Precharger and Shunt or Hall Sensor Help

Hey, finally getting around to my order with Ian. Planning to get the EVMS3, Monitor, Sensor, and 2 12 cell BMS modules.

Trying to determine if I need a LV precharger on the EVMS3. Ian said maybe, but that I already may have one. Then, I think, went further to say you could have two of them. He had suggested the 12-180 if I were to get one.

Also, trying to decide between the CAN shunt, or hall sensor. If you don't mind recommended which of these to get, could you also specify an (amperage?). 100A, 200A, 500A - available for shunt interface. 300A, 600A, 1200A - available for hall sensor.

TIA!!!

I went with the 500A shunt. It works.

But why the 2 12 cell BMS? Not that it's a bad decision.....just asking.

This should help with your question:http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/all-t...ians-info.html

I ended up going with a 200 amp shunt. I was told by someone on here that went with a 500 amp shunt that they were experiencing issues (don't recall now what they were for sure), and was thought it was due to the beefier 500 amp shunt.

Thanks. Still confused though lol.

The 2 12 cell I guess is because there will be 20 cells? 10 Leaf Modules...

IDK, thats what Ian suggested.

Still not sure on the Precharger either.

That's why. I have a 7 module (14-cells) and with the ZEVA 16 cell BMS, I have two empty slots.

With 10 modules (20 cells) you will need the two 12's.

As to the precharger, I'll let the experts advise.

You could use the BMS16 with 10 modules and have the BMS read it as 10 cells if you put your taps in between parallels cells. Essentially the BMS would monitor the parallels cells as 1 cell. That's how those isi ffg the ZEVA with a 120ah pack are running them.

His cells are in series, it is a high voltage setup so he will need all of those balancing modules.

You don't need a pre-charge circuit, the controller takes care of that through other means.

Here's a wiring diagram from a fellow member here running a 120ah Leaf pack using the ZEVA BMS16V2.
