Update ERIC charger or switch to Lester Summit II
OK, I have read through quite a few threads I found on the 2 chargers. I did not find any comparisons that would point me one way or another.
In the next couple of weeks I am replacing my worn out batteries with new Trojan t-875's. My Cart is a '14 Precedent with an ERIC charger with a JE serial number so there is no OBC. The charger was stock for my cart. My choices are I can either upgrade the existing charger to algorithm 3 for the Trojan's or switch completely to the Lester Summit II. The local Club Car dealer offered to sell me the Lester Summit for $200 if I trade in my ERIC unit. Now I am not picky about the charger and I am going to setup either one as an onboard unit. Question I have is anyone have anything for or against either one. While I like the bluetooth features of the Lester it's not overly important as I can still get the data easily from the ERIC. The plan is when these batteries start going in 6 to 7 years or so i'll convert to lithium. If needed I could wait to get the Lester, or latest and best charger, then. |

Re: Update ERIC charger or switch to Lester Summit II
If I understand right, you ARE planning to install the Charger On-Board?
You need to check your ERIC charger for the Serial Data port connector on the charger. If you do NOT have the version with the Serial Data Port, you will have to have a separate disconnect on the DC side. The basic off-board version of the Eric charger can not be programmed to automatically charge when plugged in to AC power. It MUST be disconnected from the battery pack after each charge and during use of the cart. Simply unplugging the AC power and plugging back in will not start a new charge cycle. It has to be disconnected from DC power as well. The Summit II is programmable for On or off board use, and will start a new charge cycle each time when plugged into AC power. |
