Default old DS cart

A guy in our park is giving me an old DS cart 36 volt with 5 solenoids. I want to try my hand at putting together a cart to give to the ladies that run the concession stand at our softball field. reason being is there is nothing but port-o-lets at the ball field. I would not like my mother to use them if she was alive. The ladies need to drive to our clubhouse to use the restroom. (old fashion right) I have a lot of respect for our 70 & 80 year old ladies.

My question is can I put a HD forward reverse switch and 48volt solenoids in the cart to make it 48 volt?

Resistor setups don’t do well at 48 V. You will cause a meltdown sooner or later.

You can get an upgrade kit from Scotty at carts unlimited though. cartsunlimited.net

Those are great carts not super fast but easy to work on.You can do a 48 volt battery setup but you need to move the wire that feeds the solenoid trigger coils take and move it to 32 volts keeps the solenoids being over powered at 48 volts i ran one like that for 2 years no problem. The draw back is the first speed will take off suddenly with a jerk .I would just leave it 36 volts for the ladys they will be happy.Be smoother take off.

If that was mine I would fix it the way it is, or better yet do what Luke says.
