Default Motor suggestions... GO!

Started as:
—03 TXT 36v series cart
Upgrades thus far:
—Lithium upgrade to 48v
—sr48500 controller
—225/30-14, no lift
—super duty reversing contactor
—2awg cables
—lots more having nothing to do with performance

Currently running stock 2hp motor and seeing 22mph on it occasionally.

What do you guys suggest for the upgrade?
Looking to hit 35+ once done

Leaning towards a custom motor from Chuck at EMC Motors

Default Re: Motor suggestions... GO!

I would email all of the major motor manufacturers (PQ, D&D, AMD, etc.) and explain what you’re working with and what you are looking for and see what they say.

As with all top speed hopes, gearing (and ultimately max motor rpm) is a major limiting factor.

Also I can tell you from experience that even with lithium, once you start cruising over 25mph it really sucks the battery down. Especially so at 30 and above. I have not done extensive testing but as a rough estimate I’d say 30mph cruise probably cuts a good 1/3 off my total range compared to 25.
