You probably hit the nail on the head. I had a similar problem one time and placed my cart up on some old tires and rocked it back and forth until I found it underneath. Mine was a brake cable.

Also check the two rear canopy supports. Check tightness of the two bolts each side in the basket and one each side at the top. I have seen these plastic supports sheared off as well and you really get a rattle then.

You can really fight them trying to tighten them, but if you remove them, you can still occasionally find a break somewhere in parts unseen.

Man I wish I could help you more but that is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Keep doing what you are doing. Go under it and tie rags between anything running linear to something. Look to the opposite side. You could be getting a echo noise or vibe from the other side.

During battery replacement on the 2004-2008 Precedent, I have found battery hold down bolts that were completely rusted off at the bottom from acid. Everything looked normal until I went to loosen the hold down bolt and it was just hanging there, probably rattling as well but I wasn't driving it, so I don't know. I am not implying that you aren't taking care of the batts, just that I found this, more than once. BTW these packs that were being replaced looked well taken care of, but the bolts were gone on the bottom. Since you looked at all of the obvious things, I thought I would mention this. Good luck, rattles SUCK....

Check for frame cracks, maybe in a weld.

When I was younger as a prank we would put a rock or two in people's hub cap. Then watch them try to find out what was wrong with there vehicle.

Tangent.
If you really wanted to get their goat, drop a old red shop rag in the tank.
Generally runs fine except on long stretches when the rag settles on the fuel pickup screen and well it stops!
I didn't do it but I have heard stories about pulling the tank and finding that rag!
