"been posting on the "other" buggies site for a few years"----What the heck is he talking about, there is no such thing as the other buggy site, as he now knows. Wish I had some property like that to roam around on too.

I second the not fitting under a standard door with the rack in place. I had to remove mine as well . I left the cross braces, so I only need to tighten six bolts and its back in place. Also, while removing the rack, I noticed that all my accessories are mounted with stainless end nuts, bolts, washers, and lockwashers. There were rubber gromlets everywhere as well. The end nuts for the top rack also had been treated with tread lock in addition to having the locknuts. Like I said previously, the STAR cart is more than I expected. My only concern thus far, is that the black paint on the frame and accessories looks of low quality, I'd be concerned about surface rust if I planned on it sleeping outside for any lenght of time.

I would check the insurance coverage carefully, most insurers think it is a golf cart and the insurance coverage generally only includes private property and golf courses. Any public roadways require a different type of insurance.
Hate to see anyone caught with the wrong kind of insurance when they think all is OK until something happens.

I installed a similar rack on the top of my old Marathon.... followed by a 3" lift & some bigger tires. Then the thing didn't fit in my garage. So last weekend I chopped 3" out of the supports. Only had to weld up the windshield frame, cut the 3" out of the Lexan windshield & repainted everything. I'm 6'1" & don't miss the 3" at all, and it fits in the garage again.

Geojoe, the cart is tuff and ready looking. You did a great job of staging the cart pictures, they are great.

The crossbar supports that the rack mounts to on top of the roof could be cut down as well. According to my measurements, this modification would allow it to fit. I only plan on using the rack when I travel with the cart, so tightening six bolts before and after a trip is not a big deal. Also, It does seem to be less a little less top heavy at speed with the rack removed

Reganr... looks like we have the same cart...and I agree about the potential of rust. My front rack already shows a few signs of red powdery rust, especially around the welds on the basket to the brush guard. Maybe some Krylon could solve that issue. The front rack also has a non-uniform cut to the "webbing" ...but that's not really a big deal. There could have been more attention to detail here. Pic to follow at some point on this.

Geico insures it for about $10 / month... so with the amber permit and the insurance I was able to register it. The tag office sent me a full sized license plate. My Avatar is a scan from a portion of that plate. I'm not sure where to mount it... a big *** plate on a cart? I thought it might be a smaller tag like you see on some of the Peachtree City carts.
That's one nice cart! Happy trails

Yep, I was surprised too at how cheap this was... but Geico knows it's an LSV. It states it clearly on the coverage card and documentation. Also, they are required to get it right for the State of GA to register it.
