Default battery maintenance?

ok so i have a booklet from trojan battery company and under maintenance it says after cleaning the batterys that you should apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the terminals. has anyone done this? does it really help?

After cleaning the batteries I spray with a light coat of WD 40 (from fish oil). Keeps everything clean, puts a shine on the batteries and easy to use.

Any coating that the air cannot penetrate prevents corrosion. In our dusty environment oil of any kind works but it is a big dirty mess... I have even seen spray paint used effectively... But for my $ terminal protectant coating on the terminals only

if you keep on top of maintence theres no need to coat anything........but you can if it makes you feel better but with regular maintence it shouldn,t be needed...........................
