Wiring question-purely educational
So, I've been reading everything I can on this forum trying to learn a little bit about how these carts work to help me with the rebuild of mine. Today I was reading a thread by Scotty B on installing a new controller. Looking at one of the pictures, I noticed something odd, at least to my virgin eyes anyway.
In the picture below it appears that all that is attached to #6 Batt- post is one of the large gauge cables. I was curious in this setup where the other negatives are attached. On my 2001 36v ezgo txt the negative for the charger port is attached to that post. Also, I'm not at home to confirm in my notes, but I believe my 12v negative from the harness terminates here as well. I have seen in some other threads that there is often more than one way to do things and that just confirms the need to have a better understanding of how things work. Obviously I'm not questioning Scotty on this, just trying to get a little education. I've got my cart down to the frame and am getting ready to put it back together. I just want to make sure I understand how to get it back together. If someone would mind taking a minute to give me a little education, I'd sure appreciate it. Re: Wiring question-purely educational
This cart is strictly a sun up to sun down work horse. It has no 12v accessories. The negative charge lead lands on the other end of the main (-) cable at controller B-. There is considerably less corrosion there and electrically one end of the main (-) cable is the same as the other.
Hope this helps and thanks for reading my threads |

Re: Wiring question-purely educational
Thanks Scotty. I get what you're saying. One day maybe Ill get to the point of being able to figure out that was where the charge - was without asking.
I don't get home until tomorrow but it sounds like my package from you has arrived. New cables, reducer, super duty contactor and voltmeter. Hopefully, I've got all the diagrams and saved threads I'll need. |
