Default 2008 Precedent intermittent no spark

Hi guys,
2008 Precedent Kawasaki engine. Cart will run. Can take on long ride. Stop cart for 5 or 10 minutes. Will not start. No spark. Have used CP241s no spark procedure for years. Disconnect rev limiter brown wire…no spark. Reattach brown wire cart starts. Disconnect rev limiter bullet connector …no spark. I keep trying…..shifter in fwd no start. Shift to reverse cart starts…..replaced micro switch on shifter no start……I’m chasing my tail now

I only had one of the two micro switches on shifter. What does the one that controls the back up alarm do besides that?

Something seems temp related but shifting the cart helps it start sometimes?
Weird one….any ideas?

If disconnecting the rev limiter and the limit switches does not fix the cart, I’d replace the coil. Common for these to show symptoms when it gets hot… then once it cools off to start working again.

It’s a big job so I’d really recommend an oem coil. Contact David hicks at revolution golf cars for an oem one. The aftermarket fake replacements don’t last and will leave you doing a several hour repair twice

Thank you for your reply. Appreciate it. This one is indeed different…every other one that I have had this condition, it was the rev limiter. This is a friends cart. If it were my own, I’d pull the engine and do the coil. Don’t think I’ll get any further involved as I’m not convinced I’ve determined the real problem. Thanks again.

Just circling back to share the outcome (maybe). My friend took it to a very reputable dealer here in New England. I won’t mention the name but some of you can figure it out. They replaced the voltage regulator…..can anyone tell me how that would cause an intermittent no spark condition when hot?

If voltage was too high or low it could cause a no spark issue.

That’s a new one on me. I chase a lot of no spark issues on club cars for friends. I’ll definitely remember that going forward. Thanks.

I’ve never seen this either. The ignition coil on a club car is not powered like an ezgo or Yamaha. This engine technically doesn’t even need a battery to run, other than to spin the starter/gen to get it started

Lol. I know I’ve had voltage regulators go bad to where they were charging the battery at 17+ volts and I had no idea until the battery failed it had overcharged for so long and one day just wouldn’t start anymore :)

I’ve seen that a few times myself. I keep a new VR in stock all the time. Much more common on the Precedent from what I’ve seen.

Well it remains to be seen if this fixes the cart. Will update if I hear anything.
