How do I idle
I have a 85 G2. I have been reading in here to run the cart at Idle to warm it up. How do you do that? Also, I'm not sure it is running. I know sounds weird. The cart has been setting all winter. Now when I put it in reverse or foward it just, chugs. Is it the starter that is turning not the engine running?
Thanks in advance, Jim |

Re: How do I idle
To make it idle just put it in neutral (shifter between forward and reverse). Explain a little more in detail the chugging you state it is doing. It very could be just the starter motor you are hearing running. Jack up the backend, put it in neutral, lifte the seat, hit the gas, and see what happens. Just be safe and jack up the back end.

Re: How do I idle
It does try to move but I think it is the starter that is moving it. I try choking it and it doesn't help. I just picked up a sparkplug for it. I'm gonna play wiht it today. I put it in neutral, shifter between forward and reverse and it didn't seem to be running in I pushed on the gas.

Re: How do I idle
I think mine was doing the same thing and still does once in a while. Try giving it half pedal and see what happens. I guess I should try and fix mine too.

Re: How do I idle
if you try to start in gear it will chug until the motor catches(usually a few seconds)there is no idle on a g2 unless your foot is on the gas peddle.

Re: How do I idle
Sounds like it is just not firing to me. I would start with the tune up items and go from there. Check spark, air, fuel..........

Re: How do I idle
ok, I changed the spark plug, put it in neutral, pulled out the choke, gave it half throttle and tah dah it works. After it warmed up it seemed to do just fine. I do have to start out at half throttle but thats ok. I drove it around the neighborhood and it seems good to go. Of course it looks kinda bad right now. I have it kinda tore down some. Trying to get it all sanded for paint. I hate sanding. Anybody know where I can get new or used rocker panels? Oh. the previous owner put in the wrong type plug. I have the one that is recommended in it now.
Thanks for everybodies imput. Jim |
