Default Bypassing OBC with OEM charger

Are there any benefits to bypassing the OBC and still using the OEM charger? This is on a 2012 CC Precedent excel. I've got the wire and lugs to upgrade my cables but if I can do away with the cable going through the OBC that would be one less thing to deal with.

No, why would you want to do that?

Usually folks bypass when the OBC craps out. Once the OBC is removed from the equation a smart charger is in order. The OBC is what used to provide the stock charger with its marching orders so without that your stock charger would just keep on charging and boil the batteries to death and god knows what else...

If the negative cable is not routed through the hole in the OBC, the OBC can not detect pack voltage while charging and can not detect the amount of energy that has been used since the previous charge. You will have a very inefficient charging system if you don't have this wire in place.
