Default Changing keyed Forward/reverse switch to rocker switch

I have an off, forward, neutral, reverse key switch. Part number is 611283. It has a simple 4 wire plug on the back of the switch assembly. There are 2 white wires, an orange, and a yellow. I haven't taken apart the internals of the key switch to see how these wire are connected but its obviously switching polarity somehow to the electric motor.

I wanted to keep the key switch to act as an on/off only and then use a rocker/toggle switch located near the dash to operate the Forward, neutral, reverse. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram or any info if someone has done a mod like this.

Thanks

it would help if you could tell us what year, model, & serial number of your cart. a picture or 2 wouldn't hurt either.

That's an rxv, I'm betting. And if I'm correct, I suggest you leave it alone.

It's not a simple polarity switching 4 wire switch as you mention. It requires a make-after-break switch type. If you use a simple make-before-break rocker switch, it'll fry the controllers H-Bridge FET banks! Dead short through the FETs.
