No problem. I'm chasing every lead at this point and having any related, specific model to Google and learn from still helped.

Forgive the excess posts. I'm running back/forth between my computer and the cart and finding more info.

In this image:

If #6 and #8 are supposed to be more in-line, and it's 1/2" off, AND the rear clutch spacer broke, could that have allowed the rear clutch to slide in that 1/2"?

Has my hunch about the primary clutch been completely wrong?

Can you recommend a good spring? Is this one no good?

I can't seem to find a G14 shaft spacer only. They all come with kits. Will another work?

Is the giant spring the reason my cart does wheelies from a stop? It's pretty dangerous if I'm not careful. If I accidentally get the front wheels off the ground while going around a turn, I'll roll it when I land.

Talking Re: Cart made a loud noise and stopped working?

I'm a moron.

I got in really close to rear clutch and could see the snap ring is still good. Back to square one with my hunch.

I was about to start taking the rear clutch apart when the belt from Amazon showed up and I figured I'd at least see if the primary clutch would open up.

It was just a bad belt?!?!?! The thing works fine now!?

I'm guessing I kicked something up off the road into the belt and the metal I heard was probably it getting caught in the primary.

Well I've learned a ton about how this thing works now and thanks so much for the help!

Sort of explains why nothing was obvious. I'm still thinking I want to change the spring to a smaller one if it will prevent me from getting on two wheels though if anyone has any recommendations where to buy the spring.

Sounds like you got it figured out. We'll see if the new belt lasts or not, if so, cool!

I still don't like the white spring at all. It's really designed for the less powerful stock engine. It's kinda like giving your cart 4:56 gears instead of 3:07 gears. Not sure you know what I mean or not. Basically, it keeps the trans in "low gear" for longer. This is good with a stock engine that only has 9 horsepower, where it needs the torque to climb hills or pull a load.

What you have is a 22 horsepower engine, Vtwin at that, that makes 3x the torque of the stock engine. You don't need the white spring to help with torque, you have plenty with that engine.

Big blocked carts usually do much better with the stock secondary springs, at least Yamaha carts do. It will shift much better and get up to speed faster. It also will put less pressure on that belt.

Typically with a "power spring" like you have, you'd want to use a HD kevlar type belt that will withstand the extra pressure and heat that spring will make the secondary produce. I'm guessing that's why the belt shredded?

Oh, almost forgot....those marks on the clutch center shaft....Pipe Wrench teeth....

And the porn on your photo hosting site is also fixed. When I first looked at this post, down at the bottom was a bunch of porn. It was weird, live cam stuff. Whatever, it's gone lol.

I want to replace the spring. The cart has too much torque and it revs too high before going "in gear", so the front wheels pull off the ground.

A smaller spring would give me a higher top speed too, right?

Is this spring good enough? https://www.amazon.com/cciyu-Seconda.../dp/B085NGW5WV

And I'm guessing the porn may have just been the ads on ImgBB.com or something. I'm in tech though and this is a work computer, so I was a little confused where I could be injecting porn into the conversation lol.

The spring looks like a "stock replacement" but not Yamaha brand. I would try and get Yamaha brand, but it might be ok. Quality sometimes comes into play with Amazon parts like this. It's probably made in China so....

I would call Plowman's and get one from him. He might even have the stock springs on hand.

Top speed? Technically the spring has nothing to do with top speed. Top speed is always a function of engine rpm and gearing.

With that said, that big white spring may not have been allowing your secondary clutch to fully shift, which would make it not reach the top speed your cart is capable of, so in that sense, you might get a higher top speed than you were getting before.

I'll give Plowman a call tomorrow, but I might just pull the trigger and gamble on the Amazon spring.

I'm going back to my high school physics, but I was thinking that with these CVT's, torque and speed were inversely related...but I could be wrong...it's been years.

I thought the bigger, rigid spring increases torque in exchange for higher RPM's, and lowering the torque (spring) would cause the secondary clutch to engage sooner at lower RPMs and also stay engaged longer at the higher RPMs, thus higher speed? Not sure though...one way to find out!

For your situation, the stock spring will be the best option. The Amazon spring is not a Yamaha part, but it "might" work ok. Sometimes the cheaper parts are made with cheaper metals, causing them to wear out sooner or worse yet crack. The last time I checked a Yamaha spring was not much more than the spring you're looking at. But, do as you may. Good luck.

Ok, so there may still be an issue with the cart.

I notice it feels more difficult to push the cart when the brake is off and it feels more sluggish (slower) than normal. I've only driven it a few times since putting the new belt on.

If I have the cart jacked up, should the rear wheels spin freely?

I get the feeling that the rear end is putting up a lot of resistance and perhaps that's why the belt broke? What could cause that?

Is there something that needs lubed regularly?
