Default 2000 48v DS F/R switch failure.

Just replaced a F/R switch on my 2000 48v DS (have done this a few times in the past) and within a week it failed. When I pulled it off, the left (as a driver sits) contact on the rotating switch had "sunk" into the Bakelite as if it had been very hot or maybe frozen in place and unable to turn as the switch turned. It was not hot to the touch. Just now replaced, but like to avoid a repeat. Any notion as to what happened?
Thanks

That was definitely heat.... You are either pulling more amps then the stock FNR can handle or a connection worked loose and was generating heat. May want to het a HD FNR.

Yeah, this was a HD switch. However, it did occur to me -- after posting of course -- that the small bolt that attached to the side that got zapped, was indeed loose when I took it apart. So, think you hit it. Thanks.

reverse contactors is the way to go . its a little more then a HD switch but the problem will be gone forever ! Available from Dave Hicks @ Revolution Golf Cars or Scottyb @ Carts Ulimited
