Rebuilt the club car regen 2 controller.... help...
Ok so as I had mentioned earlier in the year my controller went out on my 2001 club car ds with regen 2... I sent controller off to be rebuilt and guy said he took it from a 220 amp controller to a 320 amp controller??? But now cart runs great just 1 problem... my green wire coming from the controller going to the A1 terminal on my motor is getting super hot.... so what could that be? Do I need to upgrade the cable or what? Or could something be wrong with motor?

If they are still 6 gauge cables then you may want to replace them. The motor A1 and A2 and are the most important cables to upgrade as they always carry 100% of the motor current. All of the other cables only carry 100% of the current when the controller is at 100% output.
I will say this, in the past when I had hot A1 cable, I was usually soon into a controller issue and usually lost a pre-charge resistor around the same time. So I hope you are not into any other issues. |

You can sure try it and see. But just remember, these motor cables can get hot and is not unusual. It is based on how you are driving at the time and the load you have on it.

You should replace all of the original 18 year old cables.
The 4ga should be fine and cables should never be hot, just warm after use. If any cables ever get hot, that is a sign of resistance near where it is getting hot. |

Re: Rebuilt the club car regen 2 controller.... help...
Just normal driving mine can get a little more than warm. When my batteries got low and I am hurrying back, they are hot enough to touch, but much more than when normal driving. When I went from 6awg to 2awg it was much better.
Remember if you increased the amperage of your controller and are using that amperage, you are going to generate more residual heat at the motor cables. |
