Angry 1989 Club Car DS 36v -New Vglide/Solenoid/microswitches Only moves when solenoid jump

Hi Y'all...My 1989 Club Car DS 36v is my life saver when it comes to taking care of my horses. A few weeks ago, I burned out the Vglide when I got stuck in sand in one of the paddocks. Since then I have come to this site daily and found so much great info. I actually removed old Vglide, installed all new case, microswitch, new wiper brush etc Didn't work. So I installed a new solenoid and a new microswitch to the drive box. Replaced wires where needed and followed wiring diagram. Batteries are 1 yr old and new charger. Multi-meter shows 37.4v. Solenoid clicks but the only way I've gotten it to move is by jumping 2 large posts on solenoid with a wire. I drove it a couple hundred feet and smelled burning and yup...solenoid on fire! What the heck am I doing wrong? I've taken pics all along to refer to and I know it's got to be something simple but I'm at the end of my rope. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm "horse poor" (anyone with horses will know). I use my cart daily and can't do without it so if you have any suggestions....I'm all ears! Thanks so much. :

Yes it clicks in fact it seems to click just changing from F to R too. It's brand new! Thanks for your quick reply. Should I post the pics that I took?

Sounds like you may have wires crossed on the micro in the vglide.

Yes post pictures.

That cable looks loose on the FnR switch. Also have some corrosion on the lower cable ends that needs to be cleaned up.

Those cable ends at the solenoid looks pretty toasty. You probably have internal burning of the cable as well which will cause high resistance there and will cause them to burn again. Those should be replaced.

If the solenoid is clicking when changing from F to R it’s wired incorrectly. I can’t help with specifics on that, but there are diagrams here that should help. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-diagrams.html

Agreed - we you to have a multimeter for further testing. HF has one for $3-70.00 depending upon how many horses you have The V glide micro switch is either broken closed ( not opening) or the Vglide wiper arm is not coming all the way back to allow the trigger to relax.

It does require some kinda multimeter to fix your own cart. Here is a short video on what you need and how it works. > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/troubleshooting-tips.html

Well, I tried switching the microswitch wires on the Vglide and nothing. I guess I'm back to square 1. Scottyb - you mentioned the wiper arm not coming all the way back and you were right but would that keep it from moving at all? It will still work when I jump the solenoid but gets too hot. I wish I could afford to do a conversion but I can't right now. I guess I'm going to have to haul it somewhere for someone to look at since I hurt my back lifting those **** batteries in and out.
