2005 DS Gas Starting Issue
It starts fine if I put my hand over the air intake at the carb but will not start when I use the manual choke. The door seems to be closing as it should. I stuck my finger in there and I can feel it closing. Any ideas?

Re: 2005 DS Gas Starting Issue
Two things that come to mind off hand, make sure the carb is good and clean. Aftermarket carbs are generally junk, make sure it says mikuni on the side of it.
Also check valve adjustment. Should be .004 intake and exhaust. |

Re: 2005 DS Gas Starting Issue
I should have included that it was starting with no problem. Microswitch went bad, replaced it which involved removing the rubber hose that goes from the air filter to the carb. Put it all back and would not start by using the manual choke so I took the hose off at the carb and choked it by hand which made it start and runs fine.
