97 ezgo no reverse

i just got a 97 ezgo that goes forward just fine but will not go in reverse. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this ? It is a series motor, after looking at the basic non dcs wiring diagram it would appear that it is wired incorrectly. just want to make sure i am going off the correct diagram. thanks

This diagram is what i have in my cart. My cart is 36v though not 48v. Can i still use this diagram?

You have a 4 blade control with A2 as shown. Not a 3 blade?
The most common cause of this trouble if failed contacts in the F&R switch.
Post a clear picture of the back side of the F&R where the 4 cables connect.... so we can look for any signs of heat.

Thank you for the reply scottyb. I'm having trouble uploading photos to the forum, but yes it does look like there is some heat damage to the bottom contact which is going to my A2 on the controller. In the above attached diagram is the (A) contact on the F&R at the top of the switch or bottom as it sits in cart? Is it common to see this 4blade controller in this cart?

After taking out the F&R switch and taking it apart i found one of the contacts had some heat damage and appeared to be inset into the switch maybe from over tightening and was not making good contact. I replaced the faulty parts and got my reverse back! Thanks for the help! Im still curious about the the 4 blade controller in my cart. Was this a factory controller for a 97 or has this been upgraded? Can i run 48v thru this controller?

4 blade was a stock controller for that year. then they went to a 3 blade controller. No you can NOT run 48 volts on that controller. You would need a controller that will handle 48 volts, and a solenoid, and F/R switch, and a 48 volt charger. New 4 ga cables

The 4 blade control was abandoned in favor of the 3 blade. The 4 blade system burnt up a lot of controllers.
