Default Vegas Predator 670 Wiring Harness

Pulling the trigger on the VC big block kit tomorrow just floundering on the wiring harness and what Tach I want to go with. For those that have installed the wiring harness from Vegas Carts. Was it worth it for $75? Would you buy it again? Doesn't look like any advantage to help with tach install as it appears you have to tap into the ignition coils.

Looks simple enough to make my own and just run some wire with bullet connectors between the stock engine connections and wherever I plan to mount the stock predator key/ignition. If you went this route what gauge wires did you use?

I installed the 670, and made my own wiring harness. Easy enough. It is just wire, and connectors which you can buy online or at any auto parts store for cheap, or use bullet connectors. The price was too high for me.

I will say that the ignition switch that came with the 670 was terrible, and fell apart in less than an hour of use...The board that holds the contacts inside the switch broke, but just meant I needed to replace the switch and had nothing to do with the wiring harness.

If you're not crazy about wiring, paying $75 isn't bad. I would assume the wire they use is standard stuff, good enough for a golf cart.

Making a harness is actually super easy. I will say that you'll want to buy 5 differern colors of wire. I use red, black, yellow, blue, green. I also used masking tape to label what goes where in case I ever needed to remove the engine. The 670 was a little different than my Vanguard, but essentially the same wires. Most small engines use all the same basic connections.

For the switch, yes trash the stock 670 switch, it's junk. Get one from your local Napa. I used a Briggs type lawn and garden tractor switch, universal.

Thanks guys. I'm going with making my own wiring harness; already have a bunch of bullet and spade connectors lying around. Going with a tractor/lawn mower ignition (I have a ton of keys already). Do you think 16gauge is sufficient for most of the wires? (will use a lower gauge for grounding).

I use 14 awg stranded copper because it will carry 30 amps safely. For lighter stuff 16 is fine, I just keep it simple and use all the same gauge wire. Make sure you use a fuse block or inline fuses.

For the battery cables I use 4 gauge.

I bought mine from VC and my only downside of the harness is the marine in-line fuse by the starter I used gives me issues some times but I think its the fuse and not the fuse holder. I always carry spares in my upgraded Blue Sea fuse block I installed.
