Re: Air ride G2 project
Heatwave,
I'm going pretty cheap for now. I have a soundstream st41000db on the way. The two back channels can be bridged together to make it a 3 channel amp. It says it will put out 90w x 4 or 90w x2 plus 200 x1. Not sure how long a $180 amp will last but hopefully long enough to let my wife forget how much money I have put into this project... Then I will buy kenwood or more trusted name brand bluetooth amp in the $500 range |

I never heard the stereo, when replacing the Batteries, I disconnected the Amp and have been pondering the direction I want to take w/ the new Tunes... The reason I asked here, is I'm looking for a small 12v amplifier w/ Bluetooth to hook up to the existing Kicker 6.5s, I'll either install a 5 wire Reducer or a dedicated 12v power source. Or something like these; https://www.amazon.com/6-5-Inch-Dual...2020164&sr=8-1 or something like 2 of these between the seats w/ the existing speaker holes covered up w/ a piece of diamond plate; https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-38...B&gclsrc=aw.ds My days of Thumping IASCA Sound Systems are long gone, us old fogeys just want some background music while we're cruising the Beach |

Re: Air ride G2 project
Heatwave,
The soundstream amp should be here any day as it was supposed to arrive Saturday. I will let you know how it turns out once I get it installed. It definitely is a small package from the amps I used to run in my cars as youngster... If the amp that you had previously had hooked up still works, they do make bluetooth modules that make any amp bluetooth capable. The five wire voltage regulator is the way to go. I had purchased a cheaper 20 buck 4 wire regulator but replaced it with a 5 wire regulator so I could cut power to it with my main key switch. t The powered Plyle speakers look interesting if you already have a spot for them. Kinda skeptical if they really produce 300 watts though... |

Re: Air ride G2 project
The Amplifier finally got installed. Sound Stream used to be a very high quality product , maybe not so much anymore... But it does sound pretty good once I did some online research and figured out that the installation directions were actually wrong. The remote in and out wires were turned around. I have a 125hz low level crossover on the way to help the sub sound a little better.
I spent yesterday taking the side panels and rear panel back off so I could add some sound deadening material to suppress some vibration from the sub. Added a piece to the backside of the air tank and It quieted the air ride system down noticeably. I plan to spend tomorrow mocking up the rest of the rear bumper and then should be ready to bring her home Christmas eve or Xmas day. |

Re: Air ride G2 project
Well I didn't get to bring the cart home for Christmas the way I hoped. I realized while test driving it on XMAS Eve that I am still having problems with the SW202 reversing contactor. I have an email in to the company inquiring about a return but they have closed down for the holidays and I won't know anything until Monday or Tuesday.
I have made a few tweaks while I wait to hear about the Sw202. I added a low pass crossover to keep the subwoofer from trying to play music above 125Hz and I rigged up the bluetooth amp's antenna extension to get some better range from my phone. Stereo sounds pretty good for an amp under a $150 and not having the sub in an enclosed box. I just hope the amp will last a year or two trouble free... I also realized that I couldn't see the air pressure gauges while sitting in the drivers seat. So I started off with a couple of paper templates and after a few attempts, fabricated an angled gauge pod to improve visibility. I also finished up the fab work on the rear bumper. I made sure it would just barely be able to squeeze in and keep my Yeti 30 soft sided cooler in the bag well without looking too ridiculous. |

Re: Air ride G2 project
Here are a couple of pictures of the rear bumper. Once we get back to school, I will have a student smooth it up will body filler and primer and paint it the tuxedo black like all the other black parts. I will have ample room to stick a decal on the bumper as a moniker for the cart. I have nicknamed it Stitches so that will probably make the cut. Although, I have been teasing my wife that I plan to name it "Fore Play" but she isn't buying it....
This has been fun 14 month project and I'm glad to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I have been keeping my fingers crossed the last week that I will get the Sw202 problem resolved and start enjoying my long hours and hard work. Not sure what I will do with all the free time I will have now that this is almost wrapped up?!? |
