Default Type of sealer

Can anyone recommend a brand or type of sealer for crankcase? Being new to this, I am unsure and standing in front of sealer section at the store only adds to my uncertainty.

Keep in mind, and I’ve got no idea what motor you’re working on, but in many engines, the case gasket thickness is accounted for in clearancing/shimming of the crankshaft. Few thousandths of an inch the gasket takes up can make the crankshaft bind up, wear bearings, or other issues.

I’d recommend just buying a $10 gasket

For other sealing purposes, I always use either permatex ultra black, or if I have the time to stop at a Toyota dealership to pick up a tube, Toyota makes a product called FIPG (most pronounce it fippage, stands for “form in place gasket”). Best stuff money can buy

It's an 88 2pg 2 stroke. There is no gasket.
