2008 ezgo rxv limp mode and grinding
Im new to the forum, i have a 2008 ezgo rxv as title states and rode and ran fine got off and got back on it and it went to barely crawling f and r and makes a grinding sound from motor and i have read on this forum for days now and everyone says prime symptom of encoder bearing. So ordered encoder bearing and installed and still same problem....BUT... i ordered bearing off amazon and it wasnt an ezgo oem brg, was wondering if yall thought maybe i got a crappy bearing or is there anything else that could cause same symptoms?....thanx

bearing did not feel bad at all, spun free and smooth, the cart is moving at less than walking speed both directions and the longer you go the hotter the motor and controller get, even jacked up with rear tires in the air.

Also the grinding or weird sound coming from motor is present on the ground or jacked up...but when u put into tow mode you can hear brake unlock and cart moves freely with no sound at all and smooth, when i had motor pulled i spun input shaft on diff and spun shaft on motor everything nice and smooth.

Sounds like you've got some kind of a mechanical drag making noise and putting an excessive load on the drive system, causing overheating. But that doesn't explain why a newly installed bearing encoder is in crawl mode. I believe you need to get it to somebody with electronic diagnostics and see what that reveals.

Re: 2008 ezgo rxv limp mode and grinding
Thanx for your help sthreatt I agree think I'm gonna take it to a shop see if I can get someone to hook it up and at least see what it says. I've spun everything while I had motor off and everything feels free. That's why I'm just wondering if I didn't get a bearing that's not reading it's one from that 10lol on Amazon and no reviews so may bite the bullet and order a oem bearing just to make sure because it's the prime symptoms from what I've read for the encoder...

I've purchased a 10LOL RXV input shaft some times ago and a Yamaha speed sensor recently, exact fit and function, no problems at all!
