Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
Jake - Can you recommend a specific high torque system?
Mr Golf - I will check brake adjustment; but it feels like both wheels are locking up. Then I am just getting a little gravel slide. Dave - Do you have a suggestion for a wider and/or more aggressive tire? I will check the voltage sag on the hill ascents. See if I have a battery issue. Great idea on changing to larger cable; can probably gain some efficiency there. Thinking that maybe I will put in a HD F/R switch, too while I am at it. I might be loosing something there as well. Thanks to all for the tips. Jack |

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
I installed a PQ higher torque in mine and that made all the difference at the hunting club which is muds and rock and sand with enough steep rises and falls. When I am feeding the deer I start off with 8 buckets of corn and have no issues.

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
Send your motor to Plum Quick for a torque re-build.
Bigger tires means slower uphill speed. Get a little more aggressive tread but stay with the same size (diameter) tire...18.5", no bigger than 20". Rear disc helps prevents brake fade (getting hot) on long/steep descents. Also helpful when you have a load. Bigger gauge wires won't really help as the v-glide wiper arm is 6 gauge and there is not a 4guage replacement. Thats the weak link in the system. You could go with the High Step V-glide By Pass. See link. buggiesunlimited.com/golfcart/instructions/club%20car/V-Glide/high%20step%20v-glide%20bypass.pdf Keeps the juice (resistance) out of the v-glide for highest speed, reducing v-glide melt down. All of these things (except by pass) will also work if/when you go with a higher amp controller set-up from ScottyB. That's all I got. Good Luck! |

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
Scotter,
Thanks for the hints. I am going to send my motor to Plum Quick. I will also get higher grip tires for the rear, and see what that does for braking. Can't hurt. My cart does not have v-glide; has the five solenoid set-up. Jack |

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
You should have a vglide on your driver side. Looks like a piece of pie.

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
It probably has the micro switch speed box, I think they used those from 81-87...

Re: Mountain Gravel Roads
Jake is right. Has the micro-switch box. It is an '88, but definitely has the micro-switches; not the v-glide.
