I guess this is part of my original question. I am not sure how to tell if there is a drop in the cable. What I can tell you is that the cable is taut. After going through the other suggestions from my fellow carters, I am still not sure if the cable itself is not the issue.

Take a picture or 2 of the cables under the cart. Also measure them to see if they are indeed the right cables for the cart.

What year is your cart? Later ones had self adjusters, earlier ones did not.

I’m thinking it may be as simple as backing that nut off the tension spring. That solved my issue on an 04 DS
