Default Toro Workman MDE with Lithium

Hi all,

I have a Toro Workman MDE, which we use to feed up the horses around the farm, and general farm things.

It used to run off a 48V lead acid battery bank but I have converted it to lithium in my shed as a little project. It's been running well for the last 3 months or so and has impressive performance compared to stock due to the huge weight savings and current capacity of lithium.

You'll have to wait 7 days before I can post up the photos unfortunately, but they are over at endless sphere if you can't wait.

Currently battling a failed sevcon controller as it isn't powering the contactor anymore. If anyone has one or knows of anyone wrecking a Toro workman MDE I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here's a few:

Lead acid battery removal, frame rust removed, sprayed with black paint. New Formply floor installed. Zeva BMS wired in with external display.

48V to 240V AC inverter installed, and some spotlights for doing farmwork:

Quick video of the inverter running an air compressor:

Specs:
16x CALB CA100 100Ah LiFePO4 cells
Home made Formply battery box
Delta-Q IC650 on-board battery charger with custom lithium profile loaded (can provide on request). Cart just has a little 240V plug zip tied to the side so I can charge it anywhere.
Zeva BMS16v2 Battery management system with external display
2x 24V spotlights in series
500A shunt for current measurement
48V to 12V DC to DC converter for running cigarette lighter, 100L weed sprayer and other 12V items
2000W / 4000W peak 48V to 240V inverter

Most current I've seen it pull is around 300A up a steep hill with a heavy passenger, typically it sees less than 100A.

Cool build. Possibly the first on here that I have seen using those batteries. Bet those cost a good bit of coin!

These are the ones I bought:
https://www.lfp.net.au/product-page/...ell-calb-ca100

I haven't tested the range, but an 8km round trip uses around 15-20% of the charge in the 100Ah pack, assuming the Zeva and shunt are metering it correctly.

Heya Ribfest - this setup still working well for you? Am looking to go the same route but with the CALB 72Ah CAM FI Series cells:
https://www.evwest.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=301
Can get the 72Ah for around USD$110ea locally or USD$100ea via aliexpress.

Thanks,
Matt

Yup still going amazing :) 100Ah would be better but you might get away with 72
