no power on 96 CC gasser !!!
I finally got my new cart started...ended up being a horribly corroded plug...which i cleaned and she fired right up.....done the 2 mods to add power and speed but no go.....
I know I need a new plug (tomorrow) bot what about the belt on the drive and clutch ??/should it be tight or sort of loose......it has quite a bit of slack in it...does it need replacing???? Under the driver side floorpan, you will see a rod linking the gas pedal to the black box pivot. Remove this rod and lengthen it to the longest it will go without being wobbly. Make sure the spring actuated hold downs are back in the same position they came off in. Before you replace this, loosen the nyloc nut on the accelerator pedal return spring until there are only about 1/4" of visible threads left on the end of the rod. Replace the accelerator rod. removithe RPM limiter ground strap! Remove your access panel on the rear body. On the governor arm atop the transaxle, there is a clamping device that holds the arm tight to the shaft coming out of the transaxle. Loosen the 11mm nut on that about 3 turns. Spray a SMALL AMOUNT of WD-40 directly around the shaft and ensure the arm moves freely. Now you have successfully, completely bypassed your governor. |

update
after reading as much as I could, I checked the oil level in the cart....found that it had almost a full quart to much
drained that back to just below full, and that appears to have taken care of the 'smoking" issue...... cart just seems sluggish....and lacks power..... I extended the throttle linkage (1/2 to 3/4 inch to start cart) and I supposedly disabled the govener by backing the nut loose on the little bracket on the govener arm (doesnt appear to change a thing) I can never get anywhere near where the rev limiter kicks in(wanted to reach that point before I dis abled it) very very very sluggish when putting a load on it such as a small uphill encline...... cart appears to start and idle real well, but just has nothing on the top end.....meaning that if I was to lift it and add bigger tires it would be worse any ideas or pointers would be appreciated |
