upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
I upgraded my 2000 CC 48 volt series cart from stock to alltrax AXE 4844P controller, HD f/r switch, and MZJ-200D48V solenoid. Cart was running with stock parts. Now will not run forward or reverse. The key on led comes on at the controller and the first time you push the gas the cart surges slightly but I don't hear the solenoid click. If you push the pedal again nothing happens.

Post pics of the solenoid and controller install so we can see what wires go where. Sounds like no solenoid activation.

Re: upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
you have the diode on the solenoid on backwards. The yellow wire on the solenoid is ground, the red is hot. Hopefully you didn't fry the solenoid in the process.

Re: upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
Yep I'm an idiot. The diode is not backwards but the yellow and red wires are on the wrong terminals. Works now that I switched them to the proper terminals. Since the diode was correct alll along and the cart works now I should not have done any damage, right????
As all ways thanks for helping a newbie. The guys on this forum are great. |

Re: upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
Ok, now that I have it wired right and the cart goes I have a new concern. I was expecting more torque. My cart goes slow 10MPH on flat land and slows down considerably on any hills. I was expecting this upgrade to help the slowing down on hills but it did not. My next step is upgrading the motor but I was wondering why I did not get an change in the uphill performance . Any suggestions would be helpful

Re: upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
Might be helpful to the forum to see a pic of the correct wiring finished. I'm confused...does the diod have a directional hook up? it looks as if it just goes from neg to pos. or in this case pos. to neg.
thanks! |

Can you link us to where you found this controller? 4844P is not a # I recognize?
A 400amp controller should have given you all the amps you needed on the hills? |

What is the total pack voltage of your batteries? Sounds like you could have one or all weak batteries.

Re: upgrade controller, solenoid, f/r switch now won't go
I'll post pictures later today. Basically the cathode side of the diode must be connected to the positive post of the activation terminals (thats the smaller posts). I had that part right. What I had wrong was I had the positive wire connected to the negative terminal and visa versa for the other terminal. The positive and negative terminals were opposite on the Solenoid I took out. I had the diode correct but connected the wires exactly how they were on the old Solenoid which was backwards on the new solenoid. The wirers connected to the big posts can be connected eitherway.
