Default 2011 club car PH excel model surging speed

my 2011 club car is surging. by reading previous posts I suspect a bad speed sensor.
i disconnected the speed sensor (under the cart on the passenger side of the motor) . The cart no longer surges, but is a constant slower than normal speed.

question 1: Is it safe to say the speed sensor is the problem?
question 2: can i replace this sensor with a sensor that will allow a faster speed?

There is a speed sensor test procedure in the stickies in this forum http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...nsor-test.html, run that test. I suspect you may have a MCOR issue not speed sensor but the test will tell what you need to know.

For your Question #2, the Excel carts (PH serial number) will not work with the speed magnet (4-poles).

Thanks for the info guys. A local mechanic told me to un plug the two sets of wires that go into the MCOR and give them a good bath in WD40. He said that would fix the problem and it did. However he warned that this was a repair and not a long term fix. So a new MCOR is ordered.

Cool deal, glad you found the problem, and now, maybe someone else with the same problem will be able to use this info to their benefit
