Re: precedent light kit, Do i need a reducer?
Laser, yes, you can hook up the 12v lights to one 12v battery. I was lucky and unlucky to have a 2005 Precedent. I believe mine run off of the passenger side front battery. It shouldn't upset the battery pack too much if you only use them for emergencies.
Lucky - that it was pre-wired for lights and all I had to do was install and plug in. Unlucky - that I have 12v batteries. |

Re: precedent light kit, Do i need a reducer?
Before 2008, they come pre-wired for the rear lights so you don't need to install a bucket harness like you do on ones after 2008. You just plug in the light kit, hook it up to 12V and you are good to go. Yes you can hook up lights to one 12V battery. Eventually, that will run down that battery depending on how often you use lights. If you want to draw from whole pack or if you are considering other upgrades down the road, then you still need a voltage reducer. The converter Tahoe recommended is easy to install.

Re: precedent light kit, Do i need a reducer?
I am getting my bucket harness today in the mail and I am honestly a little intimidated about that install and at the same time doing the madjax light kit and then the ultimate light kit upgrade. This will be my first major upgrade to my Precedent. I am keeping my fingers crossed for no issues and I have the 4x12volt pack as well.

Re: precedent light kit, Do i need a reducer?
Wow, that was fast, coachpete! So you must have a 2008 cart if you still have the 12v batteries, but no prewiring?
I cut the holes for the tail lights with a hole saw and used, of all things, a bungy cord to fish out the tail light connector. It was right there where they said it would be! If you are threading in a new harness then you will probably want something stiffer like a coathanger or (electricians) fishing wire. Let us know how it goes! |
