Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
Snellville is about 25 miles east of Atlanta, but I hunt in Randolph Co., Ga. Nearest town is Cuthbert, Ga.
Town population doubles in deer season from all the people from Fla. coming up. We have two families from Fla in our group. Gives us a good rivalry. They are FSU fans and we are Bulldawgs all the way through. I probably wouldn't let them hunt if they were Gator fans. LOL. |

Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
Any of you guys/gals down south that already started your gobbler season, post some pictures of your turkeys. Our season here in VA doesn't start until the 12th (luckily my son told me that on the 4th or I would have been out in the woods a week too early). We've found the turkey's here and my son is going to take a video camera with him on Saturday. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll post some video after our hunt. With a lot of luck, we may be able to bag our first gobblers this weekend.
Good luck and hunt safely. |

Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
Wife and I will head toward camp today. I want to get my food plots planted and may find time for some turkey hunting. I also bought a cart located in Thomasville, Ga. that I will pick up while in the area.
BCW, the Dawgs QB is starting to come along too, and the way we played at the end of last season, we could have beat anybody in the nation. So if we can keep our momentem, you gators won't have have any Dawg meat this year. LOL. We used to go to the game in J'ville years ago. Lots of fun. We stayed at Jeykell Island and took hotel bus to game. Our bus always had to stop on return trip for more ice and mixers. We were always late for meal and then the dance that came with hotel stay. It was a fun group. Hope you get a nice Tom. |

Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
Mike I hope you do get a chance to
do some Turkey Huntin while there on your property. My season on the Gobblers has not been good this year. Score 0 for me ... Dang Coyotes . Never seen the likes of so many this year down here. We were going up to our lease the next weekend, bit now have had to change the date to the 1st weekend of May. Wich in a way im glad we did now. See on the weather news there might be some late frost. I would rather wait untill there is NO chance of that to plant our spring and summer plots. Talking to our club pres. the other night , he said his plots are getting hammered by the deer... Good signe What do you guys spend for a ton of lime ? I found a place in Jessup GA purty cheap on Bulk , compaired to others . Seed the same way. Might have a lease in Telfair county too. Strickly a farm area, the farmers grow corn, soybeans, sorgam in 100-200 acres at a planting. Hard wood strips that run the link of the feilds. They took severial 200 plus pounders last year not huge horned bucks but nice ones non the less. Total lease is right at 1000 acres with 7 total members, even has a old farm house that comes with it. Creeks too. The owner lives on one 300 acre, his son on another, and a deputy sherriff on another peice. So we dont have to worry about scumbag poachers at night spotting Hopefuly... The swamps are still dry and the Gators are super Hungry LOL Sounds like y'all had good times at the games in Jax . Good luck on the Turkeys BCW |

Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
BCW, The last time I put lime on my plot, I paid somewhere between $50-$70 per acre and they spread it. It was at least one ton but I don't really remember the total amount. Buying it in bulk from our local farm coop and having them spread it was WAY cheaper than me buying it in bags and spreading it myself. I bet it was at least 1/3 the cost and they do the work.

They will rent you a spreader to hook up to your tractor @ $35.00 a day Did you get my pm yesterday about roosting your turkeys ? Im absolutly no turkey expert, but that has worked for me many times over. Have you planted your plots yet? or is it still to cold up there ... Good Luck Buddy... |

Re: Anyone Getting your Gobblers yet ???
Yes, got your PM. We can't hunt on Sunday here in VA and of course I hear the turkeys gobbling today from my front porch so I've already got an idea of where they're hiding now.
