4x4 48volt conversion
I started with a 4x4 kit from Imaginative Eng. After assy I had problems with it being not strong enough. So I rebuilt it to add extra strength to the rack and pinion. I added skid plate to protect the drive shaft. I used 6-8 volt batteries, 650 amp D&D Controller and a special built 14hp D&D Motor with dual output shaft. This cart is awesome it has so much torque it will pull a wheel stand to easy and climb just about anything.

Try this as D&D has been a lot of help with this project.

Re: 4x4 48volt conversion
I have tested it and ran over 60 miles the last hour with lights on and still would pop a wheel stand. plug the charger in and it only took 2 hours to fully charge. It climbs anything.

Re: 4x4 48volt conversion
That really is a pretty awesome setup. Is it full time 4x4, or is there a lever to activate the front driveline?
I always considered using two separate motors, one for front, one for rear, but matching them precisely would be somewhat of a challenge, so your setup is definitely better. Thanks for posting it! |
