Default 2000 Club Car ds??

I have a 2000 Club car DS and it has the FE290D engine. The engine is pretty much junk. I think its a Clockwise engine but Im not sure. Can someone tell me if it is CW or CCW? If its CW what are my options for motor replacement? I want to make this a project and Im in no hurry. Also my skills with golf carts is minimal. I am mechanically inclined but as for the tricks Im at a loss. A little help is greatly appreciated.

I have a 2000 Club Car and I am in the process of replacing my FE290 with a 440 clone. It will rotate the opposite direction, but I will just run reverse for forward and forward fro reverse. Im going to install some high speed gears to compensate for the loss of speed in forward.

If you want to replace the FE290, I will be selling mine soon. It has been completely rebuilt and has about 20 hours on it.

I read somewhere that by running it backwards IE: forward for reverse and vice versa that the transaxle will overheat. I read that it is made to lubricate in forward? Dont know how true it is.

I don't think running forward for reverse and vise versa will be a problem. Supposedly, there are a lot of carts set up this way, which haven't had any problems. There is a good bit of information on this forum about it.

Check out this post about running the axle in the opposite direction. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...-rotation.html
