Re: rearend wont move in gear
Do you have a grinding noise, when you step on the gas?? sounds like a striped brake hub

Re: rearend wont move in gear
Jack the rear wheels. Put it in neutral. Rotate the wheels. Do they turn? Or does the one you are rotating turn? If not, your brakes could be stuck. Otherwise, there could be a problem inside the tranny/gear box like broken gears as a result of running the cart without or low gear oil.

Re: rearend wont move in gear
with stripped hub it will not move. as rib said, that could be it. a common problem. while on the ground, have someone put the cart in gear and press the gas. then watch to see if a axle is spinning in the hub. if you are sure they are not and you can see the clutches working, then all that is left is the rear end. you will have to drop the pan and have a look.

Re: rearend wont move in gear
I have seen a few input shafts stripped. Usually this is due to little to no oil.
check your hubs. they are more known for failing than these gas rears. |

Re: rearend wont move in gear
you have two clutches. the one on engine is the drive clutch and the one on the rear end is the driven clutch. what you are saying is the engine runs and is turning the drive clutch, but the clutch on the rear end won't work? can you turn the driven clutch by hand when it is in gear? this might be easier to check on jack stands.
if you can turn the diriven clutch that should eliminate a problem inside the rear end. since you are now on the jack stands you can check the clutches . at slow rpms the drive clutch will be open and close up as you speed up the engine. on the rear driven cluch, it starts out closed and opens as the engine speeds up. when you do this what do you see? |
