seat removal and solar charger?
2 questions/conversation starters..
1) anyone planning on removing their rear facing seats? 2) can a 12v plug in solar charger be used with these carts to add just a little extra trickle charge? |

Re: seat removal and solar charger?
It can be done but there is nothing to gain with a 12v trickle charger plus you'd need 4 of them for a 48v cart. The wattage they produce is so small that it would be like trying to fill a 55 gal drum with a teaspoon. Even with a full roof panel these would take a week of sunshine to replace the energy you would use in a couple of hours.

Re: seat removal and solar charger?
will not work...if the zone carts have a converter to get 48v to 12.... they don't tap the batteries

Re: seat removal and solar charger?
To gain any sort of charging power from solar, you'll have to have an entire roof of collectors...

Re: seat removal and solar charger?
A standard 48v golf cart charger is 13 amps and it takes 10+ hours to recharge depleted batteries.
A normal solar panel that is 5 feet long and 3 feet wide produces 175w at 24v. If this was used to charge batteries it would be the equivalent size of a 3 amp charger on 48v. Most of the trickle chargers are 3w at 12v which will keep the memory in your radio and car alarm but that's about all. |

Re: seat removal
ok - so solar charger is a no go.
As for seat removal... I have a 6 seater, and plan on removing the rear facing seats, add golf bag holders, remover the roof and replace with a shorter roof (to cover just the 4 forward facing seats)... Anyone else planning on doing this? |
