Default Alltrax SR48500 Detune to 300?

Hey guys, I just ordered a SR48500 for my 2003 EZGO TXT 36volt. I eventually want to upgrade everything to take advantage of the 500amp and maybe upgrade to 48v. But right now I just want to limit my 6yr old to about half speed. I hope I read correctly. This controller will do that correct? Also, until I can upgrade everything, can I just detune the controller to about 300 amp and keep from burning up my original FRN, and solenoids?

If you ordered the optional shift on the fly option it will be just a matter of turning a dial, but it does not come with it.

Yes you can turn down the max flow as low as you like.
The original was 275 amps but, that is not a guarantee the F&R won't fry I used to see that happen with stock controls when people had cargo boxes and hills.

You can also experiment with a mode 2 speed limit and activate it with a switch. All that's needed is a 36v (+) supply and a 15 amp toggle switch

In this second mode you can reduce top speed and acceleration rate - I hid my switch under the seat- now I have a 2 pole key switch so I can lock it in either mode.

See my thread "Fun with Alltrax" where I activated mode 2 in reverse only for my hotrod.

scottyb,
That is exactly what I wanted to do. Low Speed for my kids and have a keyed switch to unlock full speed. Although I'm not exactly sure I follow your wiring description. Maybe it will be more clear once I get into the Alltrax software and wiring instructions.

The install diagram in the owner's manual shows what I'm talking about.
