Default Slow! How do I make my club car Gasser go really slow.

Yah I know everyone wants to get their carts to go as fast as possible....But...I attend an event with a 5mph speed limit and to drive around I am constantly killing and restarting the engine. Is there any way to make my cart go really slow and not have to engage and disengage the engine so much? I think the linkage was "adjusted" before I owned it to make it go fast. I have not messed with any linkages since at this time it works.

late 1980's Club Car Gasser ~1400 hours

Thanks!

I recently sent my driven clutch off to Tom @ Dixie. Now my engine revs higher and the low speed is slower. I did it for hill climbing...but my cart will do what you are asking. It revs higher before takeoff and the 2 halves come together closer for a lower gear..Ask him to do everything he did to mine for the workhorse. It is great....

My daughters CC had the same symptoms when I got it. Adjust more slack in the throttle cable so the micro comes on sooner and you will have more low RPM pedal control. What this does is give you spark before the carb opens.
Let us know how it turns out.

Had the same problem, could not get my linkage adjusted to satisfy me, ended up wiring around micro switch & using a old floor board dimmer switch to shut cart off. I wanted mine to go slow so I could creep through the woods & look at wildlife

May have had to much ware somewhere in my linkage to get it right. I'll have to look & see if new parts would help. Having to shut it off manually can be a nuisance sometimes.

Several weeks ago I finally got around to taking a good look at the cart and I got it to go really slow. Thanks for the advice.
Here is what I did.
I lengthened the throttle cable between the "black box" and the throttle arm so that the spring held no tension at zero throttle position.
Then I found that the butterfly on the carb was held open approx 50% by the control arm that comes from the gear box/differential. I adjusted that until it allowed the throttle to close at zero throttle.
I then shortened the spring on the carb by 1/2 inch and repositioned the bottom tab to make the spring have better action on the throttle butterfly.
A bit of tinkering and now it goes really slow and I am not dumping raw fuel in to the engine every time I decelerate. Hopefully that will clean up the oil a bit and help things last longer.
Fast forward to last Sunday where I installed a OOOHGAH horn that I got for Xmas, head lights and CB radio. Double check the wiring of those little lights. I accidentally wired it to ground and blew the fuze cause the wire color seemed to be backwards. Snip snip and a little soldering and shrink wrap solved it. Good to go.
