Default 2010 Precedent Slow, Fast a Second, Then Slow

A Precedent followed me home today from the golf course, it is a 2010 model and the second letter in the serial # is H, which I think means it is an Excel. It has the generation 2 pedal assembly (I guess that's a big deal with Precedents ). Pics of both:

The issue: It isn't what I'd call "jerky" at all, but it will go, then fall to about half speed like a bad speed sensor for a long time. Then it will speed up for a second or three, then immediately fall back to about half power for a while. Repeat cycle. Also, it is very odd to put in gear, doesn't always want to go in gear when the switch is flipped, have to toggle it several times when this happens and finally it will go.

Do these things have a speed sensor test that's easy like the IQ carts do? Haven't tried it yet because I'm not sure. Was thinking possibly speed sensor or MCOR, but kinda lost as to why either of those would make it hard to put in gear.

You have a 2010 Precedent Excel with the Gen2 pedal assembly. You can perform the speed sensor test on these as easily as the IQs. Here's my idea, pull the floor mat and the access cover to the pedal assembly. Look and see if the MCOR has the sticker with which version it is. I am suspecting you have an MCOR3, which proved very troublesome for CC. If one Precedent has it, the whole fleet porbably does and would need to be changed out, as it is only a matter of time until they fail

As for the F-R switch, that may be just an issue with the switch itself. Do you have another you could try?

OK, so it fails the speed sensor test, no slowing itself and no beeping.

I was pulling the pedal assembly as you were typing , Nick. Great minds must think alike.

Guessing I'll start with a new speed sensor and work from there, sound like what everyone else would do?

Have no spare switch to try, might remove and hit this one with some electrical contact cleaner.

Ok, you have an MCOR2, you should be good there. For the speed sensor test, that may either be the sensor or the magnet being cracked

Took switch completely apart, no issues that I could see. Shiny and clean inside. Put it all back together, flipped back to run, and can't get it to act weird going into gear again, must have been a fluke. Still having issues with the speed, will pull sensor and look at the magnet.

Magnet intact.

By the way, this job has unexpected benefits. I found a quarter in the pedal assembly compartment!!

No cracks, chips, dents, or dings. One seam from where it was made I guess, but not a crack.

Sounds like a speed sensor issue
