Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
Boy, I feel a little late to the party. I converted my cart to 48volt. She scoots along at about 22 mph. Glad I did it. I know I'm behind, but welcome.

Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
Probably about the same speed as yours - his conversion alone didn't get him 22 MPH, he has larger diameter tires which = more top end.
FYI - whatever your current speed top speed is now, multiply it by .33 and add the number you get to your current top speed, and that's real close to what the new post-48 volt conversion top speed will be. |

Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
A friend of mine has a Royal Ride that he did a solid state conversion on (ScottyB at Carts Unlimited set him up) and believe it or not with the two of us on it, it GPS'd at 27 mph. I can't remember if he is 36 or 48 volts. I think 48. Cart runs great. Really surprised me because those carts are not light.

Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
From what I was told when I picked up my cart, it had a "high speed" motor. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but it goes 17mph with my family of 5 loaded and it feels fast. A 33% increase would be a little too much before I've had a chance to freshen up the suspension and brakes.

Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
If that were my cart I would want it to go 20-25mph. That way I could get it registered and street legal. I would drive it all over town. It would be such an attention getter.

Re: Oh yeah, it's another "Royal Ride!" Voltage question
Well I can't say how fast it was before as it was a death trap. It is true, I have 14" rims with low pro tires. 400 amp controller and big cables. She goes about as fast as I would want to.
