Default 48volt dc reducer

I am having trouble with my dc reducer. Mine has 5 wires; red fused, black, blue, yellow. orange. Bought from amazon 30 amp $95, ScottyB was out. No wiring diagram. I wired the red to pos in, black to bat. neg and light neg, blue to hot out. Lights not working. Does neg to battery go the last neg in battery circuit. 90 club car ds 48 volt, completely redone electrical and motor. 700amp controller/400 amp solenoid/ d&d high torque motor, 2g wires. Cart runs great. Tree climbing torque. ScottyB is the man.

That's what I did. Black to#6 bat. neg. and also caught the neg coming from the lights with that. Does that sound right? I ran the blue out of the reducer to a switch for the lights in the front as the pos out.

. . . yellow wire may be a "trigger" wire that needs to be attached to cold side of key switch . . . it would then turn on the reducer when key switch is ON . . .

Without a wiring diagram you really don't know what is what but generally you can figure them out with a little common reasoning...

Without exception I would expect that the following is your wiring:
RED goes to 48 VDC (+)
BLK goes to 48 VDC (-)
Both of these wires should likely have been either the same size gauge and/or same length.
Out of the remaining 3 wires
Look for a smaller lighter gauge wire which is usually the Yellow this should be your trigger. It is going to need to be connected to a keyed hot to turn the reducer on/off.
Look for pair of wires that are the same diameter and/or same length these will likely be your reduced output. On my reducer they were green and black but they were easy to ID as they were smaller and lighter than the longer red and black that went to the battery.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'll get right on it and will let you guys know how it comes out. I'm new to carts and 12 volt wiring. I didn't think of the yellow as a trigger. Just assumed it was keyed on/off if wired but was constant on if not.

I would go to their website and contact them for the dpi answer. Mine came without the requirement to select a mode...trojan...us...etc.
As for your reducer i have seen others where the green is the switch and one of the other wires is a constant 12 out. Contact seller if unsuccessful then search brand....it bites they didnt provide a diagram.

Can you send the link to what you got on Amazon? That may provide some insight. As Crash Test Dummy would say...
