Is there an upgrade speed controller for Precedent i2?
I have a brand new electric Club Car Precedent i2 Villager 4 (48v, 6x8v batteries). Serial number PV1041-136753. (I think this means that it was manufactured in 41st week of 2010, but I bought it new this month from an overseas Club Car agent).
I understand that the standard speed controller can be adjusted to go up to about 19mph. I understand that the best way to improve performance (speed and torque) may be to upgrade this to a controller that draws a higher current but I am not sure if these are available for the Precedent i2. If anyone knows a way of doing this then I would be grateful for your comments. |

Yes the max speed for this cart is 19 with the controller maxed out.
I believe the i2 Precedents have the Excel system, so there are no aftermarket controllers for them yet. You can however get an IQ harness then get any IQ controller that you want... |

Re: Is there an upgrade speed controller for Precedent i2?
Thanks Jake. I'm new to this so a little more info would be really appreciated.
Is a new harness fairly cheap and easy to install? Do I need to replace a whole bunch of other components to make this work? What sort of controller could I then install and what sort of impact would this have on my top speed? Many thanks! |

The harness should be plug and play and is usually around 200 USD. You can then install ANY controller made for an IQ cart. The controller upgrade alone wont really affect your top speed, that's where the upgraded motor comes in.
Contact scottyb (www.cartsunlimited.net) and let him know what speeds you are trying to achieve. Again, 30mph isn't going to happen without changing gears. Talk to Scotty and he can customize the best package for your application. |

I have heard that the harness is 100% plug and play. How fast are you wanting to go? Are you wanting to put on a lift kit?

Re: Is there an upgrade speed controller for Precedent i2?
Yes Jake...but need to check whether this affects the road legality where I live. I guess more torque will enable either a lift or change of gears internally. I'm also on for a new motor if this will help. The trouble is, where I live the petrol carts have all been modified to do around 30mph and there are just a small number of us with electric carts, and its horrible being the slowest thing on the road.
