hill assist
I have an 84 Marathon and live in the Texas hill country. The cart runs great and does everything well. Except climbing hills.I know and have done the shorter belt.I have a question and you may think I'm nuts.I don't know if anyone has ever tried or considered this or if it is even feasible.Could you wire a switch to turn on the starter motor on a short climb to assist the gas engine in the climb?Sounds nuts, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.Anybody?

Re: hill assist
The starter motor is actually "ON" whenever the motor is running. Once the motor turns it fast enough, it changes from a starter to a generator.

Re: hill assist
Aside from being your generator, even if it wasn't starters aren't designed to move a vehicle. You would burn thru starters faster then u could order them.

Re: hill assist
Try switching to a heavy duty driven clutch spring and you may want to go back to longer belt so it will ride higher on driven clutch to give lower gear.
