Default Alignment Issues

Alright fellas, I need to pick your brains. I put a 6 inch Jake's lift kit on my 99 G16. In the directions, aligning the cart's toe in is recommended after the install is complete. The directions weren't real clear to me, so I tapped my Dad for some input. He reminded me of a way that we used to align my old VW. We would find the midpoint of the front tires, and then spray paint a line onto that midpoint while spinning the tires. We would then scratch a line in the paint at the midpoint while spinning the tires. We would adjust the front end, and then measure the midpoint width on the front and then the rear sides of the tires. Then we would use the difference in the measurements to determine if the car had the correct toe in. My question is, does anyone know if that will work, or does anyone have a better idea. I read the part of the directions that said to have someone drive the cart toward you to see if the tires are lined up correctly. That doesn't seem too precise to me. Second question...since the lift, the bottom of the tires are out further than the top. I don't remember if that's camber or caster, but is that normal? I thought I remembered reading a thread a while ago that talked about this issue. I couldn't find it when I tried searching for the thread. any help is greatly appreciated.

MIke, go to the G8 club post, Page 117. Start reading post #1167 through 1169. That will give you another method of wheel alignment. Camber may take care of it self after toe is set.
