Default Go, NoGo, then goes fine...unless it sits a while

Hello, I have a 91 EZGO marathon which I was driving every day. One day I tried to get it to go, and nothing...I moved the F&R switch back and forth, and would push on the accelerator. It finally "jumped" a little in reverse...but wouldn't go. I then checked connections (all good) and sprayed the F&R switch and the thing that goes up and down (Connected to a rod that goes to the accelerator...its in front of the controller) with WD40. A couple more moves on the F&R switch, and it started working fine...no problems...until a few days later...some problem. Today...happened again, this time I finally got it going in forward, but couldn't depress the pedal down all the way (which had me going really slow...but moving). If I pushed the pedal down all the way, it would cut out on me. Eventually, it ran fine, with no problems.
Any idea what this could be? It seems once I get it running, I usually have no issues for the rest of the day. If I let it sit a couple of days...then it decides not to work again...until I mess with it.
Thanks in advance for any...all help!

F/R contacts. Either take it apart and file them flat, rebuild it or replace it. You might try tightening the nut on the back and see if that helps. If the terminals on the back of the switch look like they have been hot you might just replace it.

Buy an HD F&R Cam from ScottyB. Pre filed and everything.

Hello, got the part from ScottyB...worked great...other one was pretty dirty.
Regrettably, this didn't solve my problem...same issue as before...I press the accelerator...and it moves...if I press it too far...its cuts out...after I get going...after a few minutes...then it works fine...any other component I can check? Thanks for the advice.

Groove, The thing mounted in front of the controller that hooks to the gas peddle is the potentiometer, pot for short. check to see that the linkage or the pot itself is not trying to fall off or something silly? The part where you said it work half throttle one day? If the linkage looks solid we may try to get you to test the pot output with a multi meter...

Hey there...linkage looks fine, I'll do a search for pot output testing (I'll probably get some weird results).

Hey there...tested the POT output with a multimeter...and pressing the accelerator all the way down gets me a pretty consistent measurement of 5.94...pretty sure that is too high...could that be the culprit?
