Default '10 Club Car precedent battery light flash?

After a full charge on my new to me golf cart, I took it on a 4 mile ride on flat roads. Batteries are Trojans that are 4 years old to the month. After about half-way, the battery light would flash one time and be on for about 1 second as soon as I let off the accelerator. Any ideas what that means?

It usually means low pack voltage, but it can also come on if the charge cycle was abnormal or interrupted.

Well I pulled the cart off the charger yesterday at 6pm, and tested the batteries with a voltmeter this morning. I was getting 9.6-9.7v on all batteries, and 58.0v on the whole pack. That seems high to me considering I took the reading 14 hours after it was taken off the charger.

Background info: All the battery cells were completely dry when I got the cart. I refilled them using the proper method, and then charged appropriately. The 4 mile ride was taken after that was done. I'm wondering if maybe my batteries were just weak on the initial ride after being dry, and now they are back to normal after a couple of full charges and a discharge.

Did the charger complete its cycle or did you unplug it while it was still on before the 4 mile ride?

It had been on the charger for about 3 days. More background: The guy had not used the cart once in about 6 months, but had left it plugged into the charger. As was said though, all the cells were dry.

No, it seems to be shutting off normally, and dropping down to 5 amps normally

with batteries being dry you might have a damaged cell or a few when put under load that's why it's flashing.

Just did a hydrometer test on it. All cells were 1.2750-1.300, except 1 cell in two different batteries. Those were 1.250 in one battery and 1.260 in the other battery. That still leaves them in the upper part of the 'fair' condition, so it suprises me to see them go dead that quickly.

Yeah they did exactly what you said they read FAIR and if you have 2 cells like that in different batteries that's not good. I would perform a load test on those batteries that will tell you want your looking for.
